Hey all.
Have been very slow in writing and updating. Malal Pakistan filming spell has started and from the chill of New York, we are now dealing with the heatwave of Karachi. But that adds to the fun of it in a way. The actors unfortunately are not very pleased especially when we put really heavy, hot lights right in front of their face. I am looking forward to when this serial comes together.
Right after that I will be filming another serial. Yes, I have become very prolific this year. This one is written by Samira Fazal and will also air on HUM TV. Post these serials, I hope to take some time off and think of new film ideas and hope I get inspired.

Just got done with watching the promo of Malal. Though its too soon to formulate a conclusion but somehow I had a different impression of this newest offering by Mehreen Jabbar. Maybe I was expecting too much nevertheless I felt the promoe had more shots of buildings and landscapes than people. Maybe it only looked like that in the promo and the actual serial has more substance. I am saying all this because I am seriously fed up of all those foreign-shot Pakistani serials where more than half of the serial is focusing on ‘giving a virtual tour of the place’ than actually having a real story or some good execution. The only serial that has clicked in this context is Pehchan. I just hope Malal is a continuation of that class and watching Mehreen’s serials since my high school days, the latter possibility is most possibly true.

I am eagerly waiting for MALAL. I think that the DORAHA was the best drama serial that ihave ever seen in my life. Your combination with Umaira Ahmed is great. I hope that Malal will also a great drama like DORAHA. When MALAL will be on air…
to the first comment writer: I hope it is more than the buildings of NYC. At least I don’t expect that from Umaira & Mehreen.

filming in Panama City! LOL who came up with that Idea! It is Party Central during the summer time!! I won’t recommend going there - the beaches are not clean mainly because it is a bunch of high school & college kids hanging out and getting drunk. Destin (close by) would be a better option if Hum TV wants to have you film a serial where they can show the beach.
Of course Mehreen and Umaira are in a league of their own and I have no doubt about that. By the way, when is Malal starting?
And another question, I want to watch ‘Beyond the last mountain’. Any idea about its availability?
Malaal is starting on Oct 23rd on HumTv. Let’s see what these ladies have come up with this time

Sorry have been missing in action for so long. Panama City was an interesting experience but I prefer New York any day! I think there are a lot of expectations with Malal which can be a little unnerving especially after the response to Doraha. Malal is a very different story and approach and all of us in the team will be watching to see how it does.
