Sorry have been absent from the blog but have been shooting non stop. We usually leave the house at 8:00 am and have a full filming spell. I have a great team. A mixture of people who are doing this for the first time as well as seasoned professionals and the energy is very good on set. Sometimes chaotic and crazy, but always fun. Here are some pictures to share:

    oops! I mean’t Nicole Kidman’s ‘The Others’

Dear Mehreen, just finished watching Doraha last night. I just went on Gupshup to read some reviews and was very surprised to hear some very negative comments about Doraha. We absolutely loved it. The last scene shot in t/ dark where Shehla talks about herslef if downright haunting and gave us goosebumps (reminded us of Nicole Kidman’s The Others). It was left upon t/ viewers’ imagination and I guess most of us are a lazy bunch, would rather have everything spelled out for us. Love t/ fact that the drama started from Shela in a very airy’ lighted room as a young girl but ends in just an opposite setting with the same adult, all alone talking about herself.

Though I wish it had ended on a lighter note with Sara and Umer in a shot together, not neccesarily married, but moving towards it, my hubby feels it would not have left such a great impact if that were t/ case Both my hubby and I loved it, cried during & after and were quite emotional about t/ whole thing. I still feel very heavy hearted after watching t/ whole drama in 2 nights after putting both our kids to bed we’d sit & watch Doraha till 2 in t/ morning on weeknights!

Also, could you pls convey our heartiest congrats to Humayun for giving one of his best performances ever, along with Baddo Aunty, Parveen Akbar,Adnan Siddiqui, Sonia Rehman who was absolutely brilliant in it, as was Sanam Baloch. In short, it was an absolute team work and it showed from t/ /photographer/cameramen, to t/ lighting dept.

It was world class production & can be proudly shoown anywhere in t/ world. Sharukh & Aamir Khans’ could sure take some pointers from our actors specially Humayun, Sonia & Sanam who did a superb job with their lowkeyed natural acting! Also, is there a Doraha sequel to look forward to? Just read on Gupshup.

Not sure if you read these posts but if you do, would love to hear from you, or email me @ iasim99@hotmail.com

When will Malal air in t/ U.S.?

Please dont let t/ nagative comments about Dorah’s ending get you down. It was excellent. Where else would 2 people so crazy about each other be? One giant mistake should not be t/ end of life itself. Tooo bad for Shehla, but she deserved it since she brought this on herself, as she so eloquently says about being consumed in her own fire etc. Brilliant work of such a simple story line . A masterpiece by you and Umaira . For a change people are discussing “Doraha” & not some cheesy, half nude hindi /Bollywood movies. We have our own xtremely talented stars and kudos for using Pakistani music by Jal & Atif etc. All in all, great work. I’m sory you must be bored by now to hear such praises, but we just finished watching it last nite , so still very emotional about it!
Thank you for giving us such a wonderful story.
Ever thought of making it ito a Pakistani movie ,should think about it before Bollywood actually does it!

Like I said earlier, we need more of you and more like you!
