Hey all,
Thank you so much for your comments on Doraha. I am so happy it is being liked. I usually don´t do too many serials especially after they have become endless, having 18-150 episodes, but sometimes I think it takes that long for a story to register in the madness of cable tv. This project was made by everyone´s participation and all the actors and the crew worked very hard on it, with all the actors esp taking their roles very seriously and engaging with them, and the crew members working with complete dedication.
We usually started filming everyday around 9 or so and took a day off after every 8th day. The total shooting spell was 45 days. If you have any questions about the shooting or the drama..please go ahead and ask!
Again. Thank you.
one of the best thing i like about this drama is that it doesn’t have lengthy scenes, or long boring dialogs. the kind of impact that just a few words and good facial expressions can make is so much stronger than those long boring scenes in other dramas that I forward anyways.
i usually watch dramas after recording them on DVR, or online because i can’t stand the ongoing boring scenes, and not being able to forward them. but even though i watched doraha online i never forwarded a single scene.
thank you so much for creating such an amazing drama.
Tum ne to Direction achhi ki hai aur actor bhi theek ja rahe hain - khas tor per Sonia Rehman (I saw her very fast time and impressed)……
magar ‘dialogues’ main dum nahi hain..Lagta hai likhne wala - bharti ka likh raha hai.
Dear *zindagi ki diary, i don’t want to be rude to you, but my opinion is that umera ahmed has done an amazing job of writing this drama. i think her story and the dialogs are playing a very big role in the success of doraha. as i said in my first comment that her few words dialogs give such powerful impact that it can not be done by a full page script.
but i do agree with your comment about Sonia rahman, i am her biggest fan after watching doraha
Hey all,
Here is the link to the other title song..not the Jal song, but the other one..These are friends of mine and their group is Ilahi and DeLorenzo.

Enjoy!
I’d like to make a comment on a scene in Ep.12, where Sara sits quietly with her hands folded, and accepts a beating from Asfar. I understand that she’s stuck in a situation where she has to bear her husband. But still, there has to be an obvious difference between the way a typical housewife and a woman like Sara would react to such domestic violence. She should have been shown to raise her hand in defense. It is unfortunate when strong characters are compromised for the sake of the story.
Hi Basmah,
Thank you for your comment. While I agree with your observation, I think the reason we made this choice was that unfortunately in many cases of domestic abuse, whether it is a housewife (from the lower or middle classes) or from the upper middle class, most women suffer from what is called Battered women’s syndrome

and even though personally I would have liked to whack Adnan’s character out of existence, we had to keep to what was real in those circumstances. One is often tempted to make statements or to portray what one’s own belief is about a situation, but sometimes for the sake of telling the story as it is, you have to stick to what one thinks the character would do.
Hope this logic makes sense to you. Appreciate your input.
regards,
As disturbing as it may be, I see your point. Good job on the direction though, that scene was very graphic.
Hope you discuss such subjects in detail in your next serial/film.
Doraha is such a pleasant surprise after all the below-average directed dramas that have been aired in the past few years. I think what sets Doraha apart from other current dramas is the direction. Although the story is fantastic, I have seen other Umera Ahmed dramas with average direction. This serial is simply brillant. Each scene is valuable and I haven’t seen any “faalto” scenes yet. Mahreen, I really hope that you continue to direct Pakistani serials. Thank you SO much for Doraha.
Very engaging storyline and well executed in every way. Keep up the good work!
Last friday last episode of ‘Doraha’ was on air.’Doraha’ indeed was a masterpiece & I’m happy that it has grabbed the attention from masses that it truly desrved. I must say ‘hats off to Mehreen’ since it was her proficiencies in direction that gripped the audiences throughout the serial. Secondly Sonia Rehman & Humayun Saeed were excellent. As a viewer I couldn’t find any flaw as far as realistic approach of the director & actors in their work was concerned. The song of JAL would have never been noticed by me had I not seen this drama. Now the song is my most favourite song.
Could I know when this serial is going to be released on DVDs?
Riz.
The drama was awesome..But me being a fan of Umera Ahmed’s writing could not help myself comparing Maine Khuwabon Ka Shajar Dekha Hai and Doraha
End was kinda different I mean i wasnot shown after 17 years and all dat scene in which Shumaila(Shehla) discovered from Umar’s office abt Umar and Sana(Sara)’s marriage…
But Still it was one of the best drama ever produced..
And I force you and Umera Ahmed to work as a team..
I am damn sure u guys will do wonders..
Thumbs Up!!
All the best for Malaal..

Mehreen,
Just finished watching Doraha. It was absolutely amazing. It was such a powerful story and you told it with such ease. Someone very close to me has gone through a similar experience to that of Sara’s story and watching your play was reminiscent of how I saw that person deal with her emotions. I think the realism portrayed in your work is commendable. It makes me want to act in one of your plays! It is a shame we don’t get to see quality work like yours more often. Please pass on my appreciation to Sonia, Humayun and Sanam. I look forward to more of your work.
